Last year, Spotify acquired Podz for a little less than $50 million, a podcast discovery platform. Though the brand is no longer in use, Podz’s technology is still being used to power a new test of Spotify’s new UI.
With the new app, you can find your next podcast binge by using a TikTok-style feed of podcasts. TikTok users or those who have watched other apps like TikTok will instantly recognize the new UI of Spotify.

When a podcast appears on screen, you can swipe up to view it. Once your chosen podcast appears, it begins playing immediately. You can get a flavor of the content with these 60-second previews.
Once you hear what you like, you can choose to watch the episode right away, or else if you want then you can also save it for afterward.
Podz’s algorithm is probably responsible for this feature, as it relies less on creators of podcasts to create their own shots.
In addition, over 100,000 hours of podcast audio were analyzed to train the machine learning system. However, the fact is that it may be abandoned or altered significantly before release, as Spotify is just testing it.
